Falling in love can be murder…
No one in Lily Lennox’s life can understand why each of the past five summers, she has shut her successful business and chosen instead to be paid minimum wage lifeguarding at the exclusive Riovan Wellness Resort on a sun-soaked Caribbean island. Fortunately for her, they also aren’t aware of the mysterious deaths that have occurred on the island every time she’s there.
Lily always does her best not to attract attention. She is determined to make toxic people pay for the damage they do – and when your mission is murder, it’s best not to draw suspicious eyes. But this year a very attractive guest and podcaster, Daniel Black, is asking a few too many inconvenient questions. Is he there to hunt her down? And if so, how will she manage her growing attraction towards him – at the same time as getting away with murder?
REVIEW
Sienna Sharpe’s latest thriller, A Killer Getaway, serves up murder with a side of mai tais, and trust me, you’ll want seconds.
At its heart is Lily Lennox, who spends 48 weeks a year climbing the corporate ladder and 4 weeks making sure certain guests at the Riovan Wellness Resort never check out. She’s got her summer routine down to an art: arrive, identify the toxic target, eliminate, repeat. But this year, a handsome investigator named Daniel shows up, sniffing around her carefully curated paradise. And suddenly Lily’s got a new problem: falling for the man who could expose her deadly hobby.
Sharpe (who writes under a pen name – she’s actually Jenna Satterthwaite) has crafted something special here. This isn’t your typical beach read or murder mystery. Instead, she’s mixed psychological suspense with a steamy romance that actually works. The writing cuts straight to the bone, free of the usual thriller fluff, while building tension that’ll keep you squirming in your beach chair.
What makes this book sing is Lily herself. She’s a killer you can’t help but root for, even as you question your own moral compass for doing so. The supporting cast feels just as real, each character adding depth to the story’s exploration of justice, trauma, and redemption.
Sure, romance purists might grumble that there’s too much murder, and thriller fans might roll their eyes at the love story. But that’s exactly what makes A Killer Getaway stand out. It’s messy, morally complicated, and impossible to put down.
Bottom line: Pack this one in your beach bag, but don’t expect to do much sunbathing; you’ll be too busy turning pages.
